The Red Devil Crab (Geosesarma hagen) is one of the most stunning and sought-after freshwater crab species in the hobby. Originating from the lush rainforests of Southeast Asia, this small semi-terrestrial crab captivates with its deep red claws, dark, glossy body, and bright orange eyes. Despite its devilish appearance, it’s a calm and fascinating creature that quickly becomes the highlight of any exotic setup.

Habitat & Care:
Red Devil Crabs thrive in a humid, semi-aquatic environment with around 70% land and 30% shallow water. A paludarium of at least 40 litres with moss, bark, driftwood, and caves provides plenty of hiding spots and climbing areas. Keep temperatures between 24–28 °C and humidity around 80%. Use dechlorinated freshwater and a secure lid, as these crabs are skilled explorers.

Diet:
Omnivorous and opportunistic, the Red Devil Crab enjoys a mixed diet of high-quality crab pellets, frozen or dried insects, and small portions of vegetables or fruit. A varied diet keeps their color vibrant and their health optimal.

These social yet territorial crabs can live in small groups when space and shelter are sufficient. With proper care, the Red Devil Crab can live up to 3 years, rewarding its keeper with endless activity and exotic charm.
