Growing up to 20 cm in length, they are among the largest land snails in the world.
Habitat & Care:
African Snails thrive in a humid terrarium with a substrate of coco fibre or soil that stays moist but not waterlogged. The enclosure should maintain a temperature between 24–28 °C and humidity around 80–90%. Provide hiding spots with cork bark or moss, and ensure good ventilation. These nocturnal animals are most active at night, exploring and feeding after dark.
Diet:
As herbivores, African Giant Snails enjoy a diet of fresh vegetables, leafy greens, and fruits, supplemented with a calcium source such as cuttlebone to maintain healthy shell growth. Remove uneaten food daily to keep the enclosure clean.
Calm, curious, and surprisingly engaging, these snails make excellent pets for children and adults alike. With proper care, African Giant Land Snails can live up to 7–10 years, offering years of quiet fascination and natural beauty.
